My day off
Work has been quite busy of late, and I have rather a lot of holiday to use up before the end of September, so I decided to take advantage of a slightly quieter week this week to book Monday off. So far today I have crocheted on all the squares I'd made to the blanket I'm making for my friend Helen:

There's still quite a bit left to do; at the moment it's 10 small squares each way and I'd like it to be 12 by 12, which is nearly half as many small squares again, and then I want to put some sort of border round it to finish it off.
Back in the autumn, I started off a batch of blackberry wine. Today I siphoned it off the sediment into a clean demijohn and sampled it. It's cleared pretty well and I think it's almost ready for bottling.

On the subject of wine, elderflowers are out, so I went for a walk this afternoon and picked enough for a gallon of wine and a gallon of elderflower champagne (which is not champagne at all but rather a refreshing summer beverage like lemonade). I made sure to leave enough flowers behind to have a go at elderberry wine in the autumn though!

Wow, when it's done it's hard to believe how much work has gone into it, isn't it? You must be chuffed :)
