Giving

I'm happily settled in the spare room at my dad's house for the festive period. Today has been interesting; we went into Grantham, I got to see my sis's new flat into which she will be moving quite soon, we bought much stuff, I found a shop that sold decorations for Christmas cakes, so I bought two robins, a santa, and a Merry Christmas sign to go on once I've iced it. I also bought a pattern to knit myself a hat and scarf once I've finished my current project, and some rather nice wool with which to knit them.

After we'd finished in town, we went to a blood donor session - my first for 4 and a half years. I had no idea I'd left it so long. They didn't want my dad's blood as he'd been to the dentist for a scale and polish this morning, but they deprived me of a bagful and then gave me a cup of tea and a kitkat in return. I think a little bit of discomfort three times a year is worth it in order to save a few lives, so perhaps my resolution for 2006 should be to actually make an effort to get along to sessions three times a year rather than once in a blue moon.

Tonight I will mostly be making Christmas Truffles, and possibly icing the cake. And maybe wrapping a few presents. And watching music videos on the telly.

I used to give blood regularly but they won't take it over here anymore due to the fact I'm English and may have Mad Cow disease! Shame on them!!

A kitkat! Here you only get those cheapo 3-packs of biscuits. I want a kitkat in return for my blood!
