My weekend of fun

I was on my own for once this weekend, and as my sister's due date had passed with no sign of impending baby I thought I'd drive up to Lincolnshire to visit the family and see if I couldn't encourage her to do some starjumps to set labour on its way so I could finally become an aunt.
Had a very pleasant evening doing nothing much on Friday, then pottered about on Saturday morning before going up to Scunthorpe with Dad and sis for the match. Scunny's performance was certainly nothing to write home about, and the match finished in defeat, 2-1, Tranmere being aided by some dubious refereeing. We dropped in to visit my gran, and then headed home where I was relieved to find out that my friends who were planning to visit on Sunday were not getting a train until lunchtime. That meant that I could wait until the roads were defrosted this morning, and as there was still no sign of imminent birth, I headed back to Peterborough, in the knowledge that I'll probably have to go back at some point in the next few days to see my niece/nephew.

This afternoon was spent in a haze of eating, making brownies, losing at Scrabble, listening to music, and reminiscing about my university days. Despite making two trips to the station (picking up and dropping off) I completely failed to pick up my ticket for my journey to Durham after Christmas - there's plenty of time yet, I know, but I'm rarely at the station these days so it was a bit daft to waste this opportunity. I'm definitely inviting T and A to visit more often though; they polished off the dishes between them, although I can see I'll have an exciting few days finding crockery in the pan cupboard and glassware behind the cornflakes. Thanks, guys :-)

This evening, I have mostly been watching Top Gear and working on Sam's Christmas present - he knows what it is as he chose the wool himself, and I am pleased to announce that the Left Thumb is now finished!. Time for a bath and an early night methinks.

Some people never learn, Hutters! And our second son came along after S decided to hurry things along by emptying the fish pond with a bucket, so we could make it into a sand pit!
