Just like I'd never been away

It's amazing how quickly things can go back to normal after a break. Today's training day at work reminded me of many of the things I don't like about my job. Hopefully when the pupils are back tomorrow I'll remember the bits I do like. Except, bother, I've just remembered it's presentation evening tomorrow night so I'll either have to stay late or I'll have to go home and then go back in the evening. Poo.

I could do without extra journeys at the moment; the car has been Playing Up. Having sat doing nothing for a fortnight, it really needed a run out yesterday to check all was in order. It didn't feel right. I got a couple of miles up the road and chickened out, went all round a roundabout and headed back. At the next roundabout, I stalled. It took forever to get started again, but I made it home ok. This morning I went out extra-early so I could get the bus in plenty of time if the car didn't work. It worked fine. The journey to school was smooth and pleasant. There were no signs of anything wrong. It was fine again on the way home tonight. My esteemed colleague wot knows about such things had a plausible-sounding explanation which I can't remember.

It's not bad for its age. Neither is the car. Ho ho ho.
