A Productive Holiday

It's been a busy couple of weeks. For Easter weekend, we drove up to Durham where we completely failed to get stranded in heavy snow. It was peculiar driving south past lots of melting snowmen when all we'd had was a slight sprinkle. Sam's back up there this weekend though, and snow's forecast again, so here's hoping it doesn't disrupt his travel plans.
Alistair came to stay for a few days, and we had a fantastic time playing a game I enjoyed as a student, called Mafia, which involves driving and shooting. As students, one of my friends had a steering wheel controller which plugged into his computer, and it made the driving missions much easier; I got stuck on one particular part of the game this time round simply because it's impossible to control a racing car at high speeds using the arrow keys.
Last weekend I had a birthday party, and apart from the boat race, we all enjoyed ourselves. I made pizza again and a delicious carrot and ginger cake (there are four slices left, but you'll have to be quick!) On Tuesday, which was my birthday, I went over to a friend's house, and we drank lots of wine, ate lots of pizza, and watched both Kill Bill films. It was great to get emails, text messages and facebook messages from so many of my friends, to say nothing of the cards I got (including one with money in! Woohoo!)
I stayed in all day Thursday to receive my new Shiny laptop, but teh rubbish0rz people never came. A few phone calls later, I finally signed for it at half past two this afternoon. I'm going to take a while to get used to Vista and get everything customised as I like it, but I'm rather looking forward to being able to blog from my bedroom, or from the balcony once summer happens. Old habits die hard though; I'm sitting in the computer room to type this!
Two pictures to finish with:

Firstly, my window box. I hope other things will grow productively this summer and I can post some more pictures.

Secondly, tonight's dinner, which was yummy. There's a portion in the fridge if you want it, but you'll have to get here before tomorrow evening because I'll be finishing it off myself then!

Happy Birthday!
And re Window Box. I have a hanging basket out front, filled with Lidl plastic flowers. It does the job (from a distance)
