Pussycat pussycat, where have you been?

It's half term! Yes, once again, those overpaid underworked teachers are on holiday. In order to recharge my batteries, I invited my mum over for a couple of days, because as everyone knows, it's very calm and relaxing to have extra people to worry about and cater for. She wanted to see some art or culture, so I got tickets for "The Importance of Being Earnest" at the Vaudeville Theatre in London. So on Tuesday morning we awoke bright and early, faffed around until the car park had gone from commuter prices to normal prices, and drove to the station.

On arrival, having bought an A-Z, we decided to start our day out in Greenwich. We walked up to the Observatory and had a good look round. Unfortunately, it was rather too misty on arrival to see much of a view from the top of the hill, so we looked at all the displays inside and visited the shop. By the time we'd seen all we wanted to, it was approaching 1pm, when the big red timeball drops to allow sailors to set their watches, so we stayed to see that.

After pausing for lunch, we visited the National Gallery to check all my favourite pictures were still there. We also checked that the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace were still intact, although I'm sure it would have been on the news if they hadn't been. Then after lots of pushing through people during rush hour and a little bit of shopping, it was time to go to the theatre.
The play was excellent; I'd forgotten how entertaining Oscar Wilde's wit could be. It was very well acted, and made me think that perhaps I should make the effort to do cultural stuff more often.
It was very late by the time we got home, and I think I'm still catching up a little bit, so I had a reasonably lazy day yesterday, and I have little to do today apart from shopping for food for dinner tonight - it's St Valentine's Day today, so I'm going to think of something nice to cook for Sam.
