Pear and Chocolate pudding
A while ago in the chatroom, Henners suggested that Simon should organise somewhere for us to post recipes and photos of interesting things we made. However, as this feature doesn't yet exist, I thought I'd blog about tonight's culinary experiment instead.
Nigella made a pear and chocolate pudding on her television show the other day, and although I'm not fond of pears it didn't look half bad, so I thought I'd invent one of my own. I drained a tin of pears and arranged them in the bottom of a dish. Then I creamed together 5oz butter and 5oz caster sugar, beat in 2 eggs, then folded in 4oz flour with a couple of dessert spoons of cocoa powder and some dessicated coconut, probably about an ounce and a half or so. I poured the resulting mixture over the pears, and baked it for about 50 minutes or so at 180 degrees Celsius which is Gas Mark 4 I believe.

We served it with a little creme fraiche but I think it would also be nice with custard or ice cream. Feel free to use my lovely recipe, and adapt it as you see fit. And there are two portions left if anyone fancies popping in tomorrow!
