Update

Everything flat-related is proceeding nicely, and I will almost certainly be moving on the 21st. I've started clearing stuff out; some bags of books have gone to the charity shop, some more books have been sold through amazon marketplace, and there's some stuff that needs freecycling. I'm going to start packing up things that I won't need until after the move, like work clothes and so on, just to make it feel like I've done a bit more.
I've also been enjoying my holiday; spent the weekend at Sam's and made a start on a cross-stitch kit I've had for a while. I might do a bit more knitting too; I started some gloves in February or so, but it feels daft to be knitting gloves with the weather like this. I'm planning to do some baking tomorrow, and make some lemonade. I'm meant to be meeting a friend from work for drinks at some point. Sam and I are off to Brussels for a couple of days on Saturday. It's all happening.

Opinions: I'm only moving a couple of hundred yards but current flat and New Flat are both on the first floor so there are stairs. Should I hire a Man+Van to move the big stuff, or hire a trolley and get a crowd to help?

I still reckon you need all available information in order to make that decision: critically, photos and vital stats of the men with the ven, sorry, vans.

Will cost of pizza and beer for friends be cheaper or more expensive than Man with Van?

If you were moving from an upper floor to a lower floor in an ajacent building, you could have constructed a "death slide" and transported you goods via the rope. Job Done.
