Just another Manic Monday
Well today was fun. Got in to work and found that the photographers had come a month early to do the group photo of Year 11. Heigh ho, down to the hall, miss the first 10 minutes of Lesson 1 while the photographer gets us all lined up. I also had to rush round like a mad thing because we had to submit 6 student planners (homework diaries) so we can be checked up on to make sure we're setting homework and the kids are writing it down. Got back to my classroom to find Year 8 running riot, and spent the rest of the day shouting in order to relieve my frustration at being shockingly behind and playing catchup.
I read one of my Barcelona guidebooks when I got in this evening. We're heading off there for a few days this Saturday, so I thought I really ought to read up on where to go and what to do, as well as memorising the "Useful Phrases" section. I'm starting to get a bit excited!
Lots of things to do between now and then though; tomorrow I'm off to visit my dad and go to his pub quiz, but as he's the questionmaster and as I don't really know anyone in the village now, I'm going to join some random team of people that my dad assures me are friendly and nice. On Thursday we have a meeting at another school so I'm going to give my non-driving colleague a lift so he can give me directions. And on Friday, my sibling is visiting in order to go to Kiddicare, the Baby Megastore. Not sure why a pregnant person would want to buy another baby, so I'm guessing it's a shop that sells baby stuff rather than babies.

FYI - Just in case you hadn't heard, Barcelona is THE pickpocket capital of Europe (if not the world). Google "barcelona pickpocket" for some of the top scams. Enjoy your trip.
Thanks for the tip... the guidebook mentions this, so I've invested in a valuables belt. It's a shame to have to plan for that side of things as you pretty much think you're immune to bad stuff when you're on holiday.
