Nice surprises
Monday morning was the last schoolday that Sam will stay over at my house before I move. He's been in the habit of leaving my cuddly toys in various amusing positions on the bed, because I leave for work before he does. I posted about one of these once before.
I knew he'd leave something for me to see when I got home, so yesterday evening, exhausted from Year 7 Sports Day, I staggered upstairs to find this sight awaiting me:

It's the entire family of soft toys. I didn't realise I had quite so many; this is making me look like a girly girl. Some of them have names. L-R: unnamed cow; Manuel, the horny bull; unnamed cat; Daisy Cow; unnamed big and little teddy; kitten; Erica; Ping the shopkeeper*; Dog; Snuffles; Squeakabelle.
This week there have been two sports days. Tomorrow I will mostly be sorting out my classroom ready for someone new to inhabit it next year. On Thursday we have a half day, End of Term Assembly, and Staff Barbecue with Goodbyes. I am going to try very hard not to be emotional, but I think it is natural for there to be sadness when you move on from one phase of your life to another. Everyone who matters will stay in touch anyway.
* Ping was a present from my family, as we were all huge fans of Mr Benn when we were younger. I needed to name him; someone suggested his name must be ping, because it goes "As if by magic... ping... the shopkeeper appeared". I also have a Bagpuss Musical Mouse, but she lives downstairs on the monitor rather than upstairs with the rest of the toys.

Yay for soft toys! I have loads too, but they need organising into the toy hammocks that Paul got for me (inspired by a Madison Star blog)- they're all just heaped onto the sofa in the dining room at the moment!
Search for toy hammocks on ebay - only a couple of quid.
Good luck on Last Day! Stiff upper lip and all that :)
Cute mouse ;)
