Things I found while I was tidying up

This is the card that my lovely brother sent me when I first moved here. I'm hoping he'll send me something similar this time round, although perhaps with neater handwriting and better artwork :-)

When work was getting me down, I got this in a Christmas card. I still haven't had to use it, as "Going on a course", "ill", and "Grandfather's funeral" have worked so far.

Last of all, I found this masterpiece; it is a letter from my mother. It took me a little while to translate; let's see if anyone else is quicker than I am!

I can't tell what the [something] 4 is though!
looks kinda like a chess board, maybe the problem is her drawing, not your deciphering ability :-)
Dear Alison, here is the cheque for 10 pounds I said I would gravestone to you, love Mummy.
Eh?
Well, I got he Mummy bit, but then you'd kind of given that bit away...
Post, not gravestone, Lois! And yes, it's £20, not 10.
A big prize for JG for being the supercleverest person and working out the word that kept me puzzled for the longest!
