First day of the holidays

Having broken up for the end of term yesterday (and having sat through interminable leaving speeches at the staff lunch) I picked my mum and brother up from the railway station and we enjoyed a pleasant evening eating pizza and watching the First Night of the Proms. We got a reasonably early night, and this morning we got up at 5 so I could take them to Gatwick. The drive down was uneventful, as the early morning roads were empty. I parted with several hundred million trillion pounds so I could park up and see them into the terminal building (and stop for a wee), and then I abandoned them at the bag drop, ready to wing their way to the Caribbean to join the other half of their family.
Next, I found my way via the motorway network to Omally's house, where he looked after me and fed me with tea and a bacon sandwich, and introduced me to the teeny tiny kittens and showed me all his fab gardening efforts. Then we went to meet some more of the gang at a pub. It was lovely to see people again, especially the Milk Monster family, and good to meet some people for the first time. After pausing again at Omally's for a cuppa and some of his yummy scones, I set off, went round a few roundabouts several times trying to find my way back to the motorway, and eventually got home absolutely knackered. If the rest of the summer hols are as action-packed, I'll be ready for a rest in September!
