Grope-o-matic

Having received a tip-off from Henners that there was a collection of Tim Hunkin machines less than two hours' drive from here, Alistair and I got up reasonably early and headed off to Southwold Pier. There was plenty to see and do, and we took one or two photographs of the exciting and amusing entertainments:

Alistair learned how to cross a road using a zimmer frame. He was a billion times better than the four-year-old kid who tried it immediately before him.

I got frisked by the autofrisk machine. It was rather exhilarating, and quite pleasant really.

We went to watch the waterclock do its thing and took lots of photos of the weeing people.

Then we had a walk around Southwold to look at the pretty lighthouse, before hiding in the pier cafe for fish and chips while it chucked it down. A thoroughly pleasant day out, and it will be well worth another visit in the summer when there's less risk of being blown off the pier and drowning.

That autofrisk machine's good, but its technique is far from perfect. I'll show you how it's done next weekend.
