The funny things kids say

Finally, an amusing anecdote about kids at school! We were doing some work on number sequences which involved drawing letters made from counters which got bigger and thus used more counters. After they'd worked out the ones in the book they had to do one of their own, and I suggested they did their initial. One boy had already done this for the example, so I told him to use his surname, at which point he said "But I don't want to do a P". Cue laughter.

There were lots of silly people queueing to buy petrol this afternoon when I went to the supermarket. I'm slightly concerned as I have to drive home this weekend to take the car for its MOT, but I should have plenty of petrol to get there and back, and I know I can manage perfectly well on public transport should I need to, as I did for the past two years. Still, I have very quickly got used to the convenience of having a car; it's all very well going by bus but it involves a twenty minute walk through a not particularly nice part of town, and often a long wait in the rain if the buses are running late.

Next week is Family Fun evening at school; each group has to come up with a fund-raising activity. We're doing the Chopstick Challenge: how many sweets can you pick up with chopsticks in 30 seconds, but another group wanted to do the same, so any other ideas would be welcome - comments please!

I used to be damned good at the pea-race. Get a bowl of dried peas and a drinking straw (not too fat a straw!) and you have to transfer the pease one at a time from one bowl to another using by sucking them onto the end of the straw.
